Port Lafito
Port Lafito is the maritime gateway of Lafito Global and the cornerstone of one of the Caribbean’s most ambitious economic development projects. As Haiti’s first and only Panamax port, it combines deep-water access, world-class terminal operations, advanced technology, and integrated logistics solutions to connect Haiti with regional and international markets.
Port Lafito was developed to redefine maritime trade in Haiti. Strategically located within Lafito Global, the port serves as a modern, multi-purpose terminal designed to support containerized cargo, bulk commodities, industrial shipments, and regional feeder services through efficient, secure, and scalable operations.
As the deepest port in Haiti, with a safe operating draft of 12.5 meters, Port Lafito accommodates larger vessels and delivers faster turnaround times, lower handling costs, and greater operational efficiency. The terminal currently features 450 meters of berth, with expansion capabilities designed to support future growth and increasing trade volumes.
The port’s infrastructure was built to international standards and incorporates advanced cargo management systems, including the Tideworks Terminal Operating System (TOS), providing real-time visibility, cargo tracking, operational control, and enhanced supply chain performance. Terminal operations are managed by SSA Marine, one of the world’s leading port and terminal operators, bringing global expertise, operational excellence, and international best practices to Haiti’s maritime sector.
Built for Efficiency
Port Lafito’s secured operational footprint spans more than 135,000 square meters dedicated to vessel handling, cargo storage, container operations, and logistics services. State-of-the-art mobile harbor cranes, specialized container-handling equipment, maintenance facilities, and integrated customs operations enable the terminal to efficiently serve both established shipping lines and emerging regional trade routes.
The facility is supported by advanced technology and near-complete wireless coverage throughout the terminal, enabling real-time communications, equipment monitoring, cargo management, and operational oversight. These systems enhance productivity, visibility, and reliability across the entire logistics chain.
Beyond the Port
Security remains a core pillar of the port’s operations. The facility incorporates advanced surveillance systems, electronic access controls, radar monitoring, waterside patrols, and 24-hour security coverage designed to meet the highest international maritime security standards.
Beyond the waterfront, Port Lafito extends its reach through an integrated inland terminal in Port-au-Prince. Located within the capital’s traditional industrial district, the facility provides customs clearance, bonded warehousing, cargo consolidation, and distribution services, creating a seamless connection between maritime operations and inland logistics.
With direct access to international shipping networks and a growing logistics ecosystem that includes warehousing, distribution, and value-added services, Port Lafito serves as more than a port. It is a strategic platform for investment, industry, and trade—strengthening Haiti’s connectivity, supporting economic growth, and positioning Lafito Global as a premier logistics hub for the Caribbean region.
BGO recognized that Haiti’s long-term economic growth required world-class infrastructure to support international trade and industrial development. Through Port Lafito, the Group invested in creating a modern maritime gateway that meets global standards while strengthening the country’s competitiveness. Today, Port Lafito stands as a cornerstone of BGO’s infrastructure and logistics ecosystem, connecting Haiti to regional and global markets while creating an environment where commerce, manufacturing, and investment can thrive.
