WHO WE ARE WHAT WE DO AND WHY

Huileries Haïtiennes, S.A. (HUHSA) is one of the largest and most respected consumer goods companies in Haiti.

HUHSA

Founded in 1981 with a single edible oil processing plant, HUHSA has grown into a diversified operation spanning four key business sectors: Edible Oil, Soaps & Detergents, Shortening & Margarine, and Packaged Goods. Its production facilities are modern and designed to be adaptable to local tastes, allowing the company to respond effectively to the needs and preferences of the Haitian market.

With state-of-the-art detergent and soap plants, HUHSA is able to produce fresh, high-quality products that are continuously adapted to local market needs. This manufacturing capability allows the company to respond directly to both the needs and preferences of consumers—offering a level of flexibility that cannot be achieved through imported, pre-defined products.

HUHSA operates an extensive nationwide distribution network, ensuring that products reach every province of Haiti efficiently. Distribution is managed through private contractors, enabling broad reach and operational flexibility.

The company offers high-quality, economically priced consumer goods in both branded and private-label formats, tailored to the cultural and purchasing habits of the Haitian population. A significant portion of its products is distributed through informal channels, including street vendors (marchandes), as well as convenience stores and supermarkets.

HUHSA employs approximately 500 direct staff while supporting an additional 2,500 contractor and packaging roles, reflecting its broader economic impact.

HUHSA has received consistent recognition from the Government of Haiti for its strong corporate governance and compliance, including top honors from the Customs Department for adherence to tax and import protocols.

EDIBLE OIL

The story of HUHSA begins in 1981, when we built an edible oil refining plant. Since then, we have converted the plant into an edible oil packaging facility and now source edible oil from numerous countries at best-market prices.

Thanks to our strong reputation and long-standing position in the community, HUHSA has grown to become the leader in Haiti’s edible oil market, distributing several thousand tons of edible oil on a monthly basis under our two private labels: Gourmet and Suprème.

Customer service is our top priority, and HUHSA tailors orders to meet all market needs. Our edible oil is available in various sizes and volumes—from 55-gallon bulk containers to consumer-sized packaging as small as half-litre bottles.

HUHSA’s distribution network spans Haiti’s nine provinces, ensuring quick and efficient delivery of our oils.

SOAPS & DETERGENTS

HUHSA owns the only powdered detergent plant in Haiti, and our laundry and bath soap products are manufactured in different sizes, shapes, presentations, colors, and fragrances to meet the demands of Haitian consumers.

Our soap division was opened shortly after HUHSA’s founding in 1981. The company recognized Haiti’s need for soap products and expanded operations to include a dedicated manufacturing facility. The first product was laundry soap sold in solid, long bars. Through acquisition, HUHSA has significantly increased its soap-making capacity and now offers a wide variety of laundry and bath soaps.

Response has been extraordinary: HUHSA now controls a large percentage of the market, and our brands are well recognized and sold under the Kim, Puritex, and Banda names.

SHORTENING & MARGARINE

Margarine and shortening are key ingredients in the Haitian kitchen, and HUHSA offers many options for consumers.

HUHSA manufactures high-quality products for a wide range of customers—whether bakery owners, food retailers, or homemakers preparing meals for their families.

We understand how the Haitian community cooks and make it a priority to stay up to date with product requirements. As a result, HUHSA shortening and margarine products are sold throughout Haiti in a variety of packaging formats designed to meet the needs of all consumers.

PACKAGED GOODS

HUHSA’s packaged goods division commenced operations in the mid-1980s and has quickly become well known in Haiti for offering quality products at competitive prices. With our nationwide distribution network, HUHSA’s products reach wholesalers and retailers efficiently, meeting freshness and shelf-life requirements.

We also offer fresh bulk products such as garlic, cornmeal, and corn grits.

As a full-service organization, HUHSA’s knowledgeable staff provides advertising, marketing, and promotional support to wholesalers and retailers. Our sales team visits clients on a weekly basis, building strong relationships and brands. At HUHSA, we work hard to ensure customer satisfaction—earning us consistent double-digit annual growth.
